The Christmas Cat is a shadow puppet film created by myself with artist Spike Dennis. It is based on the Icelandic folklore of the Jólakötturinn – a giant cat that gobbles up those who have not received new clothes for Christmas. The cat makes a good metaphor for the harshness of a deathly winter as well as hierarchal authority, punishing those who are the most unfortunate.
